WAIT — WHAT’s the NRU?

Netflix is a reality powerhouse and fans form personal connection to the stars. Fans even came up with a name for their favorite reality stars: The “Netflix Reality Universe” AKA the NRU. We used the power of social media and the stars that Netflix reality fans know and love to take this fan term and cement it into pop culture.

We made it stand out

The Netflix Reality Universe needed a visual identity that felt both familiar and ownable. We built a system grounded in Netflix’s brand, but distinct enough to define a new sub-brand within it. Designed to flex across social, talent channels, and Tudum.com, the identity supported a wide range of content while staying cohesive at scale.

THen launched the netflix kits

For the first-ever Netflix Reality Universe (NRU) superlatives vote, we partnered with 60+ reality stars, sending custom-designed kits I created to help turn the launch into a moment. Talent took over feeds to drive voting and show off NRU letterman jackets and show-specific pins.

AND let the talent Do the rest

Concepted and led the NRU Superlatives, building a fan-driven system where talent rallied their audiences to nominate them for Netflix Summer Break. Designed custom letterman jackets with unique pins that became the centerpiece of social content, and extended the idea into “Get Ready With Me”–style videos using fan-submitted questions.

NETFLIX SUMMER BREAK

We built the NSB from the ground up, starting with a social-first system that rallied talent and fans into a single, scalable moment. A fan-first, talent-led campaign drove momentum into a live event where those storylines paid off—winners revealed, personalities amplified, and every moment designed to travel across feeds.

The system we created now serves as the foundation for a recurring Netflix annual event.
